Our CEO

Sara K. Niccum

Sara Niccum was born in the Midwest and relocated to Browning, MT in 2022. Driven by a curiosity for the natural world and a belief in individual sovereignty, she pursued a career in communications and administration with a focus on food justice. After earning an MA in journalism with work published in the International Journal of Design Education, she worked for development consulting firm Thomas P. Miller and Associates, and then for the Indianapolis Office of Public Health and Safety. Collaborating with diverse community leaders, small businesses and farmers, she pursued grants to underwrite local food infrastructure and value chain projects.

After nine years working on farms and in kitchens, she decided to pursue food sovereignty by growing food. As of 2024, she has spent two years building a homestead and garden, with and hopes to have power and water access soon! As a non-native resident on the Blackfeet Reservation, she draws on communion with neighbors from diverse socio-economic and racial backgrounds to incorporate humility and openness when building relationships.

She is currently earning a 200 hour yoga teaching certification while eradicating invasive knapweed and growing food on riparian swamp land. She spends time each week at the Medicine Spring Library and tries to learn something new every day.
